What I Learned in Sedona, AZ

Katy and I traveled to Arizona this past week, and had a great trip. Katy spoke at a ladies day for a church outside of Phoenix, AZ. On our way home, we decided to stop in Sedona, AZ and spend the day there. If you’ve never been to Sedona, it is a beautiful place with red rocks and mountains all around! Here are a few spiritual lessons I learned while in Sedona:

1.People will look anywhere for spirituality… even to rocks.

One of the main attractions in Sedona are crystals, rocks, and hiking! People say that Sedona is one of the most “spiritually alive” places in the US because of these crystals and rock formations. People drive from all over the world just to get some kind of spiritual sensation from the rocks. Our world is looking for spirituality in all the wrong places! We need to be there to point them towards the true spiritual source: Jesus Christ!

2. The Lord’s church is world-wide.

When we first got to Sedona, we decided to take drive down the main strip and look for a place to eat supper. On our drive one of the first things we saw was a little building with a “Church of Christ” sign out front. It is always so refreshing to me to see the Lord’s church when we travel. We didn’t get to visit this congregation, but I would hope they would be very similar to us. The Lord’s church has spread all over the world!

3. God’s creation is so cool.

I can’t tell you how many times Katy and I looked at each other on this trip and said, “God is so cool.” When you see some of the beauty in the world around us, it’s easy to see that we have an awesome God who created an amazing world for us to enjoy. If the fallen, and corrupt world we live in is so cool…imagine what the world we’re headed to will be like! We serve an awesome God!

We love traveling, but we love even more learning some spiritual lessons along the way. I hope this article encourages you to look for small spiritual lessons in everyday life!
